Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the the goal for the prize off the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
It had been revealed to the Apostle Paul that all his sins were forgiven. He had fought against Jesus with all his might. He was a blasphemer, and enemy of God, but God's rich mercy had forgiven him, set his feet on a path of truth, and assured his future. It was urgent for Paul to forgive himself and forget about his past. How often Jesus promises us rest and release from our burdens, but we continue to live as though He hadn't forgiven us. If we drag that dead body along with us, it will impede our effort to press on toward our goals in Christ. Let's cut ourselves loose and run the race.
