Grace for your spirit
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon.  Matthew 6:24

The word hate is used in different ways in the original Greek language. One of the ways is showing preference of one over another. Anytime God commands us to hate, we can be sure it is showing preference. With God we have a perfect love/hate relationship.  Our love for Him is so strong, it makes our relationships with others look like hate.  That kind of hate glorifies God and helps our relationship with everyone.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

When we live with worry, fear, and anger about things that have happened, we are living in the past.  When we are anxious and afraid about what's coming, we are living in the future. When we live by faith, hope, and love, we can live in the peace of the present.  Let's not throw away today with yesterday and tomorrow, when we can find peace in the present.  That is God's present for us.

Keep yourself in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.  And have mercy on some, who are doubting, save others snatching them out of the fire.....
Jude 21-23

If we were trapped, surrounded in the middle of a forest fire, what would we do?  If we were able to clear a safe place, would we be willing to share that safe place with anyone else?  Through God mercy, we have been provided a safe place in Christ, while those all around us are in danger of perishing.  The promise of fire is all around us, but the blessing of safety in Christ is provided too.  Let's find our safe place and lead others to safety before it is too late.  Saving a life is great, but saving a soul is better.

Death is swalled up in victory. O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  I Corinthians 15:55-56

If we choose to live without Christ, and die without Christ, we are subject to the law of sin and death.  Death ultimately has the victory and is the winner.  Keeping laws will not give us victory, but Jesus can.  The law of the spirit of life in Christ sets us free from the law of sin and death.  In Christ the sting and victory of death is swallowed up.  In Christ we can know we will live eternally.  Take that death !

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.  III John 2

Here is a great three point prayer outline for ourselves and everyone we know. 1) prosperity 2)good health 3)soul prospering.  These are the things that make God happy, and will ultimately make us happy too. This is the path to bring joy into our lives.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.  I Peter 5:6

This is a basic principle seen in all of God's servants.  God gave victory in battles when His servants humbled themselves before Him. Even Jesus came to earth in humble circumstances, and His Father exalted Him at just the right time.  Many parables address this principle of taking a humble position and allowing God to bring us up.  It is a principle of faith that when we obey God's plan, He will come for us at just the right time.  Humble trust always looks good on us.

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent and thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  Genesis 6:5

Adam and Eve were created without sin, but it didn't take long for the heart of man to become deceitful and desperately sick. We may think we have a pure heart, but that is also a deception of the devil. The only one able to overcome the devil is Jesus.  He replaces our evil heart with His righteousness.  Noah escaped the water destruction, and we still have time to get into our ark of safety,in Christ.

For  you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.  Hebrews 10:36

In every track and field meet, there are endurance events and sprinting contests.  The sprinting events are a dash with all your strength and is over in seconds.  The long distance endurance events involves strategy. Regardless of the style we choose, it doesn't count unless we make it to the finish line.  Many spiritual sprinters have run well, but dropped out before the finish.  Practice will help us choose a pace that will bring us to the finish line.  That's where He hands out the prizes. All who endure will be the winners.

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers !  Psalm 1:1

How well off we can all be when we choose the direction of our steps carefully.  We can not only assure a place in our heavenly home, but also smooth out our paths in this life.  Christ can help us make the right choices.  When we walk worthy of our calling, stand firm against the schemes of the devil, we will find a seat in heavenly places with Christ. If we don't stand for Christ, we will fall for anything.  Choose a blessed path and have a blessed day.

Do all things without grumbling or disputing:  Philippians 2:14

In every town and city, some people can be found,
Who spend their time in grumbling at everything around.
They grumble if you speak to them; they grumble if you don't;
They grumble if we visit them; they grumble if we don't.
They grumble at the preaching; they grumble at the prayers.
They grumble at the singing; they grumble everywhere.
But if we live for Jesus and persecution bear,
When we get to heaven, there will be no grumbling there !

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the the goal for the prize off the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:13-14

It had been revealed to the Apostle Paul that all his sins were forgiven. He had fought against Jesus with all his might.  He was a blasphemer, and enemy of God, but God's rich mercy had forgiven him, set his feet on a path of truth, and assured his future.  It was urgent for Paul to forgive himself and forget about his past.  How often Jesus promises us rest and release from our burdens, but we continue to live as though He hadn't forgiven us.  If we drag that dead body along with us, it will impede our effort to press on toward our goals in Christ.  Let's cut ourselves loose and run the race.

Because this people draw near with their words, and honor  Me with their lip service, but they remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote.  Isaiah 29:13

Note that last line, "their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote.  Rote is a routine, fixed, habitual, mechanical course, or procedure.  When we are children we learn things by rote, but there comes a time for us to grow up or we will never "grow up".  If we are 45 years old, still praying, "Now I lay me down to sleep...." it is time to snap out of it.  Spiritual rote will become lip service only.  Let's break out and give our whole heart to the Lord.

This is the way of an adulterous woman.  She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, "I have no wrong".  Proverbs 30:20

Is that the story we want to go with?  Is that the life we want to live?  When we come to believe there is no such thing as right and wrong, and we have the license to live anyway we want, we become our own gods.  The information we accept and believe, will determine our judgments.  Let's dedicate ourselves to live by God's principles that we find in His Word. It will lead us into the paths for righteousness for His name's sake

But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.  I Timothy 1:5

The Apostle Paul traveled thousands of miles, established and strengthened many churches and wrote half of the New Testament.
Through his teachings from A to Z, preaching the risen Savior, he had one unwavering goal seen in this one verse.  Love, pure heart, good conscience, and sincere faith. Through our maze of teaching, discipline, and helping, it is not a bad place to start and end up.

He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.  John 12:25

Do we feel that we are selfish or selfless?  Here's a quick test.  Are we willing to sacrifice anything today for the glory of our future.  Our grip is not good enough to hang on to the world and hang onto Jesus at the same time. We must choose.  If we insist on loving this life, we will lose it all.  If we hate this life, Jesus has great rewards for us in eternal life.  It shouldn't be a difficult choice, but it seems to be.  Choose eternal life with Jesus.  It is a choice without regrets.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest.  Matthew 9:37

Jesus spoke these words as he taught and healed the distressed and downcast.  Their desperate needs touched Him, and He was filled with compassion.  What will motivate us to be workers in the harvest? When we really see desperate needs, when our hearts are really filled with compassion, perhaps we will rise up and go into the field. Most organizations work on the principle of 80/20.  That is 20% of the people do 80% of the labor.  We should not settle for this in the Kingdom of the Lord.  Let's allow ourselves to be touch by the Lord, touched by deep needs, and working for both.

And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all         things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."  Revelation 21:5

The one who sits on the throne in Revelation is Jesus.  He proclaims that He makes, and is making all things new.  When we are born again in Christ, we are new creations. Our outer body decays, but our inner spirit is renewed every day. Jeremiah wrote that the steadfast love of the Lord is new every morning.  When we finish with our earthly journey, Jesus has a new home in Heaven and a new body for us to live in. Yes, the word of Jesus are always faithful and true.  Write it down.

See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when the refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.  Hebrews 12:25

We see in the Bible those who refused to obey the earthly prophets. They often received and suffered swift punishment..  Now we see those who disobey God's word, and since their is no swift punishment, does it mean is doesn't matter?  Not at all.  They received punishment for breaking laws, How much severer the ultimate punishment will be for those who trample under foot that blood of His Son Jesus.  God's silence does not mean He is indifferent.  Let's heed His warnings and  be faithful.

For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.  I Timothy 6:7

You say if you can't take it with you, you're not going?  Unfortunately, we don't have a choice of either.  In Luke 12, the farmer was prepared to big bigger barns, take his ease, and live for many years.  God called him a fool, and told him his soul would be required of him that very night.  Then asked him, "Now who will own what you have prepared? We really own nothing.  We just use things while we are here. Let's not get too attached.
