Grace for your spirit January 14, 2013

Grace for your spirit
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people assembled around Aaron and said to him, "Make us a god who will go before us;  Exodus 32:1

Impatience promotes idolatry.  It is the tendency of mankind to want immediate gratification.  If we can't get it from God, we will find another source.  While Moses was on Mt. Sinai for forty days receiving the commandments of God, the people became impatient.  Ironically, while Moses was receiving the first command of "No other gods' before Me", they were already building one at the base of Mt. Sinai.  Patience certainly is a virtue.  When we combine it with trust and faith in God, it will be our best guard against building our own idols.
