Grace for your spirit. April 18, 2012

Grace for your spirit
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But the one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does. James 1:23-25

Remember the ugly evil witch who talked to her mirror every day? She repeated asked the mirror, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all.? She was somehow hoping a miracle would take place and the mirror would say, "YOU ARE !" Perhaps, she should have made some adjustments in her appearance before she asked again. That may be our place in life when we hear the word of God, but don't do what it says. We know we are living an ugly life, but are willing to do what God directs to repair our appearance. We leave the mirror of His Word, and forget we need to make changes. Without change, every time we look in the mirror, things will be the same. Let's start hearing and doing His Word, and our next stop at the mirror will be more enjoyable. Jesus can improve our "face value."
