Grace for your spirit. April 10, 2012

Grace for your spirit
Therefore since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrew 12:1

When the children of Israel were in the wilderness between Egypt and Canaan, God provided a cloud to guide their way. Many times rebellious people wished to go another way, and it turned into destruction. They needed to "run with the cloud, not the crowd." Jesus told us that broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who will find it. The way of the righteous is a narrow way, and there are few on that narrow road. Which road is best? "Run with the cloud, not with the crowd." . In chapter 11 of Hebrews, we see a whole list of people who walked by faith and were rewarded. Those people are our cloud of witnesses for the kind of faith we should have. The world does not have such faith and they are falling. We really need to "run with the cloud, not with the crowd." That cloud will constantly remind us of the way we need to run in order to win.
