Grace for your spirit
However, the king said to Araunah, "No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God which cost me nothing.” II Sam 24:24
King David knew the meaning of sacrifice. If he sacrificed something that belonged to someone else, what would that mean? Not much to David or God. Once there was a business man who was thinking of making a large donation to a church in China. As he visited there, he noticed a family of five pulling a plow. He was informed that the family sold their ox for their church, even though they knew they would have to replace the ox with their own power. The businessman realized that the gift he was planning on giving, even though it was much more, paled in comparison to this family. Is our giving really costing us anything, or is it just something extra we can spare? That’s the same question Jesus asked the Pharisees after the widow brought one small coin to give. They didn’t get it. Will we?
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit
