Grace for your Spirit April 1, 2008

Grace for your spirit
And when he arose from prayer, He came to he disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, and said to them, Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation. Lk 22:45-46

While Jesus was in the garden praying, and suffering the agony of his coming death, his disciples were sleeping. They were supposed to be praying to avoid temptation, but they were tired. Most people assume that it was late at night and they had a long day. The scripture says that they were wore out from sorrow. Will sorrow wear us out? Will the stress and strain of life leave us weak and subject to temptation? When we find ourselves too tired to watch and pray, do you think the devil will take advantage of that? Yes, yes, and yes! May we not let the disappointments and strains of life wear us out. We, like the apostles, have a big job to do. Let’s watch and pray.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit
Philippians 4:23
