Grace for your spirit
They said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth. Genesis 11:4
This is the Biblical event commonly known as the Tower of Babel. Just barely off the ark, the sons of Noah would multiply into seventy nations. God stopped them from building by giving them different languages and scattering them all over the earth. God didn't want earthly towers and earthly gods, nor did He want man to give themselves credit for what they did. This project failed, but it set a standard in that part of the world for building such towers. Much later, the Babylonians built cities with towers called ziggurats. The were towers reaching toward their gods. We know that ziggurats can be hazardous to our health. When we build to gods, faith dies and we die. Let's tear down our idols, our high places, and our desire to make a name for ourselves. Let's throw those ziggurats away, and focus on God to praise His name.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit
