Grace for your spirit December 7, 2009

Grace for your spirit
Therefore the
Samaritan woman said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans) John 4:9
Jesus made a stop at a familiar watering hole in Samaria. The water of Jacob's well was good, but the Samaritans were avoided by those of Judea. Jesus took this opportunity to reach out to this woman at the well. Most people would have avoided her because she was a sinful Samaritan woman, but Jesus didn't. He skillfully used the drinking water to move her to the thoughts of eternal spiritual water. It changed her life and the lives of many in Samaria. Do we have a "watering hole?" A place where we hang out, to eat and drink coffee? Is there anyone there that we wish to avoid? Do people there know our beliefs and convictions? Are we willing to take a risk and reach out to those in need? Do we look for things in the conversation to be a steppingstone into Bible teaching? Are the people we are meeting at our "watering hole", just a chance meeting, or could it be part of God's plan? Let's make it part of God's plan.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit
