Jesus had just told Peter that the devil was ready to sift him like wheat. It would a great time to stay close to Jesus and draw on His strength during this time of temptation. Instead, as Jesus was arrested that night, Peter was following at a distance. That distance made it much easier to deny the Lord three times that evening, just as was predicted. In our solar system,.
