Grace for your spirit
Then David said, "Is there yet anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?" II Samuel 9:1
When Saul and Jonathan were killed in battle, David rose to the throne of Israel. Although Saul and his family were his arch enemies, David respected the anointed one of Israel and loved Jonathan. Normally when a king comes to power, everyone who might be an heir to the throne is killed. This was not true with David. Rather than killing the heirs of Saul, he searched for a way to show kindness to them. He found Mephibosheth, and brought him to his house. This heir of Saul was blessed with the kindness of King David. This is just another reason why David is called “a man after God’s own heart. What shall we do with our enemies? Shall we kill them with kindness, or just kill them?
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit
