Grace for your spirit March 31, 2009

Grace for your spirit

Now Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem, and did not see the king's face. Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king, but he would not come to him. So he sent again a second time, but he would not come.  II Samuel 14:28-29

King David loved his son Absalom, but they had a lot of serious issues.  Absalom had killed his brother Amnon, because of the rape of their sister.  Their anger brought a break in communication in the family of David.  As the years went by without working out their troubles, their separation grew.  David loved Absalom and always wanted the best for him, but Absalom did not know that.  The separation brought rebellion, and eventually Absalom was killed in battle.  How often do we see this in families today?  Although there is deep love, anger brings about separation, silence, and rebellion   David built a fence when they should have built a bridge.  What are we building in our relationships?

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit

Philippians 4:23
