Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scripture daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:11
The Apostle Paul's missionary journeys certainly had their ups and downs. He barely made it out of Thessalonica, and then things were much better in Berea. They were more noble-minded. They sought higher thoughts and higher ways. Because of their desire to excel, they had a different spirit. They received the word with great eagerness, examining the scriptures every day to made sure these things were right. This kind of spirit in a church will make it explode and affect a lost and dying world. May we pray for such a spirit among us. Let's see if we can make the preacher say, "Amen."
