The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries riches and pleasures of this life, and bring forth no fruit to maturity. Luke 8:14
A man was in the hospital doing well until his friend came for a visit. Suddenly he started getting worse. He couldn't talk, so he scratched this note to his friend, "You are standing on my air supply". When a plant is choked off from nourishment, it will die. When a life loses its oxygen, it will die, and when a spiritual being loses a connection to Christ, the spirit will die. Here the Bible mentions worries, riches, and pleasures, but ours could be anything. Anything or anybody can cut us off. With diligence, we all can grow to be mature in the vineyard of the Lord. The devil will continue to plant thorns in our garden. We need to dig them out continually.
