Grace for your spirit June 2, 2008

For the heart of this people has become dull, and with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them. Matthew 13:15

Before an airplane takes off, the flight attendant stands in front of the people explaining all the safety and emergency procedures we need to know. Most of the people on the plane who have flown before, totally ignore the presentation. They think they’ve heard it enough, and they don’t need to hear it again. God’s people are often like those "frequent flyers." We feel we’ve heard it enough and there probably won’t be a problem anyway. As on the plane, so also in the church, when trouble comes, every wishes they had been paying attention. Pay attention. God’s message is needed.
